dotgif is a webcomic designed and written by post-graduate Computing students from Coventry (that's a place in the UK... (The UK is a country that is not America)) who have a penchant for gaming, and simultaneously deriving humour from it. We are Terry - who does the writing and most the ideas, and John (me)- the visionary artistic tour-de-force behind the whole thing.
The comic itself originally started (and ended) in 2004, when I set up the comic with a friend in secondary school, mainly to have a bit of fun. Upon coming to University I met Terry, who I noticed kept saying these funny things (turns out they are called 'jokes'), and a lot of them could be worked into comics. We tried a couple out and enjoyed doing the comics, so we decided to get a couple done a month, and see where it went.
We now have a schedule of a new comic every Monday. We also have a Facebook group, which anyone is welcome to join - the ritual is; post a new comic to the blog, then to Facebook - so its regularly updated, and we welcome any and all feedback.
We have also got around to naming our characters:-

(From left-to-right) Will Freeman, J. Crowley and Scarlet.
Recently, we have enjoyed increased readership thanks to Kotaku's 'Sunday Comics' post (for those who don't know - its a summary of oceanic currents, posted to the National Geographic blog). So, we would like to thank Owen Good for his work on helping us in getting the word out there.
