Playing with the Spore is going to be something different.
Even though only the Creature Creator has been released - and only 25% of it at that - the game so far looks brilliant. Everything is polished and looks beautiful, even the... [ahem] EA logo is polished off and looks good. The phrase 'aesthetically pleasing' comes to mind. Though I didn't quite realise at first, there are a hell of a lot of options that will be available come-September. The difficulty of what is effectively a 3D modelling tool is also clean, polished and accessible. It is very - VERY - easy to think of something, place it, model it and colour it. And then add 10 mouths to it. Overall, I'm very impressed. I am looking forward to its release.
I have not had a chance to use the online features as of yet... I have a distinct fear that my creations will not be globally accepted, and will be shunned forever off the face of the interwebs. That, and the 2nd creature I made breached the 'amount of parts' rule, on account of being 12ft tall, having 8 stalked-eyes, 6 legs, array of spinal spikes, and - I kid you not - go faster stripes.
I'm 100% certain that there will be a comment or two from Terry about this, as I know he cannot touch an EA product due to certain vampiric-esque quality that he possesses that, when in contact with such a title, actually burns his skin. However, my opinions on the evil conglomerate that is, are not as severe. That, and the fact it was made by Maxis, a company that do know how to make a good game [bows to edifice of Wright, slays goat].
