Kotaku posted this story, with its origins in the Something Awful forums, about 're-imagining video game covers' - many based in classic film style, and the old Ladybird book covers. This hit the web some time ago, but has been on my mind ever since. Almost to the point of inspiring me to create my own... We'll see about that.
Some of the forum entries are quite bland - and in some cases - a clarifying moment of 'should I post this crap' would have been ideal - but amongst it all, and to be honest, condensed in the Kotaku link, are some of the best posts.
This site also features some excellent Photoshop-pery from the old Atari games.
Keep an eye out in case I suddenly decide to post something related to this.

Probably my most favourite is the Doom cover... Mainly for iconic and simplistic parody.
